I suggest following along with the video, but here’s what to do. Take out a piece of paper and answer the following questions. Just brainstorm, don’t filter or edit – that’s later:
- What’s the stupidest question you’ve ever been asked?
- What’s the most common question? What else … typically there are a bunch? Try to come up with at least five
- What do you hate talking about that you wish you could just direct people to a video instead?
- Lastly, what are some of the questions you WISH people would ask you? What questions SHOULD people be asking if they knew better?
After creating your general list, it’s time for keyword research – the process of finding out what topics are actually being searched for on Google, and the best way to word the topics to get the most search engine traffic for your business videos. In this video I’m going to show you the easy way to figure out what to talk about in your business videos.
Hi it’s Mike Liebensohn with CT Local Marketing. So you’re thinking about some videos. Smart move. Video is an extremely effective way to increase your visibility online and position yourself as the expert. And the thing that keeps most people from getting started with something like this is knowing what to talk about in their videos. So the best place to start is to look at the questions that your prospects and customers are already asking you. These are things that are easy for you to talk about that are not going to require a script. Plus if your people are asking these things, there’s a really good chance that there’s others searching for these same topics and questions online.
So let’s get started. Take out a piece of paper. I’m going to ask you a few simple questions just to jog your memory. So press pause, go get your piece of paper. I’ll wait right here.
Ready? What’s the stupidest question that you’ve ever been asked by a customer or prospect? Write that down on the piece of paper.
Next. What’s one of the most common questions that you get asked? Write that one down. And there’s probably going to be more, so maybe pause for a minute and write down as many as you can.
Next. What is a topic that you hate talking about, something that you wish you had a video that you can direct people to instead? Write that down.
Last thing. What are some of the questions that you wish people would ask you? In other words, what’s a should ask question if your prospects only knew better, they would ask you this. Write that down.
Now it’s important not to filter or edit, just do a brainstorm list. Just keep writing and get a bunch of things down at this point. If you’re still having trouble, here’s a little trick. Take that piece of paper, write down all of these questions that I’ve just asked, put them in your pocket, fold it up, keep it with you for say an entire week. I guarantee you’re going to have ideas coming into your head as you go about your work each day.
Okay, so I’ve just given you a way to come up with a list of ideas. But to come up with your actual topics for the videos, it’s crucial that you do a little bit of keyword research to find the right way to word the video titles based on Google data. You’re going to want to make sure you say these keywords in your videos and use them when you’re uploading your videos to YouTube.
