The Black Background

Posted on by Mike Liebensohn in Video Production Leave a comment

When you’re doing a “talking head” video, the background can make a big difference in the mood and feel of the video.

There’s white, black, natural, green screen … I put together a quick video to demonstrate:

Business Video Production Tip: Don’t Make A Hostage Video

Posted on by Mike Liebensohn in Video Production 1 Comment

Have you ever made a hostage video for your clients?

You know, where it’s painfully obvious that you’re reading off a script and the whole thing looks canned and unnatural? I’m sure you’ve never done this, but check out this week’s video to see my demonstration …. the difference between reading off a script the right way vs the wrong way – and a better alternative.

10 Ways To Use Video In Your Marketing

Credibility, Bonding & Google

10 Ways To Use Video In Your Marketing

1. Add video to your LinkedIn profile
I don’t know about you, but one of the first places I go when I meet someone new is LinkedIn. I want to find out more about them, their history, and who they know. Now you can include a video in your LinkedIn profile – the perfect place for new connections to get a better idea of what you’re all about and start bonding with you, anchoring good feelings about you from day one.

2. Put a link to your video in your email signature
You never know who your emails might get forwarded to … maybe one of your customers passes on your info to another prospect. By having your intro video in the signature, you make it easier for people to get to know you better (and that’s crucial!)

3. Feature a video in your email newsletter

Whether you’re already sending out regular emails to your customers and prospects or you plan to start email marketing in the future, the question “what do I write about” always comes up. You can feature your intro video or a content / tip / FAQ video in the email …. just write a little bit of text to lead into it, include a picture of the video linking to it on your website or YouTube.

B2B Video Marketing – Using Customer Success Story Videos To Drive Traffic & Build A Community

Customer success story videos, aka testimonial videos, are powerful!  Especially when they are emotional and “real”.  (It better not look like they’re reading a script!)

For a business selling to consumers (B2C) these are great videos to make whenever there’s a satisfied customer in your store, restaurant, or you’re at their home.  You can just take out your iphone or flip cam and turn it on and ask them, “what can you tell me about your experience?” then upload it to YouTube (make sure to properly add keywords – see this video at about halfway).  In my opinion, the more raw the production value in these cases, the better.

But …. if you’re a business selling to another business (B2B) this “rough” approach is OK, but there’s a really good reason to go farther and make it nice.

Why? Because they’re a business, and they also have something to gain by being in this video.

If you capture your client / customer in a highly personal way – especially if it’s the owner / president of the business – talking about how your company helped them, they now have a video they can use in their own marketing.  In other words, they get to talk about their own business on camera in an indirect way, and there’s something really powerful and credible about that – it seems more real, disarming, like we’re looking in on something from behind the scenes – not watching some canned commercial.

“Interview Style” Videos

Posted on by Mike Liebensohn in Video Marketing, Video Production, YouTube Marketing Leave a comment

videoactive-productions-portfolio-videosI love what I do. I get to interview all different types of business owners and learn lots of cool things about many industries. And each time I tape someone new, I can’t wait to go out and tell others about them!

Kind of like after you’ve had a really good meal, you want to go tell all your friends to go to that restaurant.

We try to capture that live experience in the final video – so when a prospect watches it, they actually get a “taste” of what it’s like to work with that person.

So …. if you’re a small business owner or professional, it’s crucial to have an intro video like this that you can forward on to prospects, put on your website, put on your LinkedIn profile, and give to your happy clients so they can easily pass it on to other people (make it easy and tell them how to do it, and people will actually take the time to refer you).
